If you're looking for golf lessons in Leicester, the first question is usually what it's going to cost. Here's a straight answer, what you should expect for your money, and how to get the most out of whatever you spend.
What golf lessons cost in Leicester
At the time of writing, most PGA professionals around Leicester charge somewhere between £40 and £60 for 30 minutes, and between £60 and £120 for an hour. Prices vary with the coach's experience, the technology they use, and whether you're on a driving range, at a golf club or in an indoor studio.
At AS Golf, at The Golf Lounge in Birstall, the prices are:
- First lesson for new clients: £29 for a full hour
- Single lesson: £80 for an hour
- Lesson package: £300 for four one-hour lessons, which works out at £75 a lesson
- Winter Programme: £780, or £160 a month from November to March, for 10 lessons and 4 practice hours
You can see everything side by side on the prices page.
What should be included
A price on its own doesn't tell you much. Two lessons at the same price can be very different hours. Before you book anywhere, it's worth asking:
- Is the coach a PGA Professional? PGA membership means years of training in coaching, not just playing.
- Will I see data and video? A launch monitor shows what the club and ball are actually doing. Video lets you see the change instead of just feeling it.
- What happens after the lesson? Most people forget half of what they were told by the time they get home. Written notes make a huge difference.
- Is it an hour, or 30 minutes? Half-hour lessons look cheaper, but there's less time to make a change and check it has worked.
Every AS Golf lesson includes launch data on the GC Hawk, two-camera Swing Catalyst video, force plates and head tracking, followed by written lesson notes and a video voice-over of your analysis. There are no extras to pay for.
One lesson or a package?
A single lesson is a good way to find out what's really causing your bad shots. Making that change stick takes repetition, and that's where a package helps. Four lessons spaced a couple of weeks apart, with practice in between, will do far more than four lessons spread across a year.
If you want to use the winter properly, the Winter Programme puts every date in the diary from the start, so it actually happens.
How to get the most from what you spend
- Work on one thing at a time. Ten swing thoughts on the first tee helps nobody.
- Practise between lessons. Twenty focused minutes beats a large bucket hit without a plan.
- Read your notes before you practise. That's what they're for.
- Book the next lesson before you leave. Momentum matters.
